New article - 7 Fun Ways to Recycle Toys

Mum and Dad! Toy-cycle.  Here's 7 Fun Ways to Recycle Toys.

Some toys are easier to recycle than others. Read this and you'll be a pro at toy-cycling.

The regular plushies and Barbies can not be simply bung into your home recycling bin because their materials do not recyclable like your plastic water bottle.

The following is not one of my fun ways to recycle but I would be negligent if I did not mention the Mattel programme called PlayBack. The programme accepts Barbie®, Fisher-Price®, Matchbox® and MEGA™ toys for recycling. Playback is available in the United States, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom soon.

Now grab a cuppa and let's dive into the eclectic fun toy-cycling!

  1. Swap 'til You Drop: One parent's trash is another parent's treasure! Organise a toy swap with friends or neighbours. Not only does it breathe new life into old toys, but it's also a fantastic way to save money and encourage community spirit. Plus, your little ones will love the excitement of discovering "new" toys!

  2. DIY Delights: Get those creative juices flowing with some good old-fashioned DIY magic. Turn those unused toys into funky decorations, like a quirky mobile for the nursery or a colourful photo frame. Pinterest is bursting with inspiration – just be prepared for your craft supplies to multiply faster than rabbits!

  3. Charity Champions: Spread the joy by donating toys to local charities or children's hospitals. Not only are you decluttering your home, but you're also putting smiles on little faces in need. It's a win-win situation that warms the cockles of even the iciest hearts!

  4. Toy Transformation: Channel your inner toy surgeon and breathe new life into old favourites. A little paint here, some stitching there, and voila – you've got yourself a brand spanking new toy! Just be sure to supervise any toy surgeries if little ones are involved – safety first, folks!

  5. Educational Endeavours: Turn playtime into learning time by repurposing toys for educational activities. Think stacking blocks for maths lessons, or old board games for spelling practice. Who said learning couldn't be fun?

  6. Garden Galore: Take the fun outdoors by repurposing toys for garden play. Turn old buckets into planters, or transform a tired sandpit into a magical fairy garden. Not only does it breathe new life into old toys, but it also encourages little ones to get out and about in the fresh air.

  7. Toy Artistry: Unleash your inner Picasso and turn old toys into works of art! Whether it's a funky sculpture or a quirky collage, the possibilities are endless. Snap it, post it on the internet and it may become a viral masterpiece! Who knows, you might just discover the next Banksy in your midst!

So, there you have it, folks – a whirlwind tour of the wonderful world of toy-cycling! With a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of imagination, recycling toys can be both fun and eco rewarding. So, what are you waiting for? Grab those old toys and let the recycling revolution begin!
